Disclaimers
These apply to this website, to the books, and to every channel published under the name Cited & Contested. They are written in plain language on purpose, because a disclaimer nobody can read is not a disclaimer.
1. Not financial advice
Educational content only. Not financial advice. Cited & Contested explains what various authors and books argue about money and investing. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, product, or strategy. We don’t know your situation. Money decisions carry risk, including the possible loss of what you put in; past performance never guarantees future results. Rules on investing, tax, and accounts differ by country and change over time. Always do your own research and, before acting, consult a qualified professional licensed in your area.
The same reminder appears in the closing of every piece of content published under this name: this is what the books argue, not advice for your money. Check it, and talk to someone qualified before you act.
2. No affiliation, no endorsement
Independent and unaffiliated. Cited & Contested is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or sponsored by any author, publisher, company, or brand discussed. All book titles, author names, brand names, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used here for the purposes of commentary, criticism, review, news reporting, scholarship, and education. References are made under fair-use and fair-dealing principles and nominative, that is identifying, use. Mention of a book or author is not a claim of partnership with them, nor an endorsement by them of this project.
We do not accept payment, gifts, or arrangements of any kind from authors or publishers in exchange for coverage. If that ever changed, it would be disclosed at the top of the page it affected.
3. Copyright and fair use
Copyright and fair use. This project produces original commentary, criticism, and educational synthesis. It analyzes and compares the ideas in published works, which copyright does not protect, rather than reproducing the authors’ expression, which it does. Any direct quotations are brief, attributed, and used for commentary and criticism. If you are a rights holder and believe something here exceeds fair use, contact us and we’ll review it promptly and in good faith.
The original writing, design, and free resources on this site are the property of Cited & Contested. You are welcome to quote, print, and share them with attribution and a link, including in classrooms, libraries, and community groups. For reprints, translations, or commercial use, please ask first.
4. Accuracy and corrections
We check, but we’re human. We verify claims against sources we consider reliable and label how well each one holds up. We can still get things wrong, and books can go out of date. If you spot an error, tell us. Corrections are made openly and, where it matters, noted on the page. Nothing here should be treated as the final word; it’s an invitation to read further.
Every check is true only as of the date it was made, and country-specific checks apply only to the country named. The full procedure, including how corrections are classified and published, is in the corrections policy.
5. Affiliate disclosure
Some links may be affiliate links. Some links, for example to books we discuss, may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you buy through them. This never changes which books we cover or what we say about them. We do not accept payment from authors or publishers for coverage.
At the time of writing, the two books published under this name are not yet available on Amazon, so no purchase link of any kind appears on this site.
6. External links
Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and reference. We don’t control and aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. That includes the social channels, the Buy Me a Coffee page, any bookseller, and any source we cite. Their terms and privacy practices are their own.
7. Liability waiver
Use at your own risk. All content is provided “as is,” for general educational and informational purposes, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cited & Contested and anyone associated with it accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from reliance on anything published here or on its associated channels. By using this site or watching this content, you agree that any financial decisions you make are your own responsibility.
8. How to raise something
For corrections, rights matters, permissions, or anything else covered above, use the contact page and say plainly which of these sections it relates to. Rights matters and factual corrections are treated as priority.
These disclaimers may be updated as the project changes. The version you are reading is the one in force.
