๐Ÿงญ Vancouver & Calgary 2026

Maps & Transit

No car this trip: SkyTrain and Calgary Transit will do most of the work, with Uber/Lyft for anything awkward and walking for anything short.

๐Ÿงก A missed transfer just means a few extra minutes together on the platform, no need to stress about it.

Vancouver: TransLink / SkyTrain

The hotel is a short walk from Royal Oak Station on the Expo Line, which runs direct to downtown Vancouver (Waterfront Station) with no transfer. For Richmond/Aberdeen/the airport, transfer at Waterfront to the Canada Line.

Fares (2026)

Fare type1-Zone2-Zone3-Zone
Adult (Baba, Dikshya)$3.50$5.10$6.70
Concession, youth 13โ€“18 (Agrima & Ojashwi)$2.30$3.40$4.60
Day Pass, Adult$12.55 (all zones, unlimited rides)
Day Pass, Concession$9.75 (all zones, unlimited rides)

Trips starting at YVR-Airport Station add a $6.50 AddFare. All bus trips are a flat 1-zone fare. Fares cover 90 minutes of transfers across bus/SkyTrain. If you're making 3+ trips in a day, the Day Pass is usually the better deal for the whole family, tap in with a Compass Card (buy/load at any SkyTrain station) or contactless credit/debit card, which is capped at the same day-pass rate automatically.

Calgary: Calgary Transit

Calgary's CTrain (LRT) has two lines (Red and Blue) that both run through downtown along the free-fare 7th Avenue transit corridor. Useful for reaching downtown attractions from your cousin/aunt's, depending where they are relative to a station.

Calgary Transit, routes & fares

Since you're staying with family who may drive you around some of the time, Calgary Transit is more of a backup than the main plan, worth checking current fares on the Calgary Transit site since these can change.

Rideshare & walking

๐Ÿš— Uber / Lyft

Both operate in Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, and Calgary. Good for: luggage days (arrival/departure), late evenings, or when the SkyTrain route needs an awkward transfer for a short trip. Four people plus shopping bags often means an UberXL is worth it.

๐Ÿšถ Walking

Downtown Vancouver (Canada Place โ†’ Gastown โ†’ Robson) is very walkable and flat. Around the hotel, Metropolis at Metrotown is about a 15-minute walk or one SkyTrain stop, an easy call either way.
